The Complete Zap Comix Box Set

This month Fantagraphics is making available for the first time ever The Complete Zap Comix. The 5 volume hardcover limited edition set is $500.00 and the signed edition is $750.00, and are ready for  November 2014 delivery, just in time for Christmas gift giving.

KK-228 Zap Comix Cover No. O Men's T-shirt

There scarcely was an underground comics world before Robert Crumb's classic solo first issue of Zap in 1968. By Zap #2, he had begun assembling a Seven Samurai of the best, the fiercest, and the most stylistically diversified cartoonists to come out of the countercultural kiln. All of them were extremists of one sort or another, from biker-gang member Rodriguez to Christian surfer Griffin, but somehow they produced a decades-long collaboration: a mind-blowing anthology of abstract hallucination, throat-slashing social satire, and shocking sexual excess, that made possible the ongoing wave of alternative cartoonists like Daniel Clowes, Chris Ware, and Charles Burns. The Complete Zap Comix collects every issue of Zap — every cover and every story, and even the Zam mini comic jam among the Zap artists — in a multi-volume, slipcase hardcover set. It will also include the 17th unpublished issue with work by Crumb, Moscoco, Wilson, Rodriguez, Shelton, Mavrides, and Williams. Plus, an introduction by founder R. Crumb and an oral history of Zap by Patrick Rosenkranz, and other exclusive bonus features and items TBA. Zap is the most historically and aesthetically important comics series ever published.

R. Crumb's Mr. Natural "Get the Right Tool for the Job!"

Mr. Natural "Right Tool for the Job!" T-shirt
Here's a handy hint from Mister Natch: At home or at work....Get The Right Tool For The Job!

Mr. Natural is the creation of Robert Crumb the infamous father of the Underground Comix movement of the 1960's. Mr. Natural first appeared in a 1967 issue of Yarrowstack comics, and went on to many more misadventures at the hand of Crumb.

Fred Natural was a bit of a mystery, as his true origins where never entirely clear. He was thought to have been a hustler from the depression era, who recreated himself as a mystic guru in the 1960's.  He was always ready with plenty of advice for a new generation. Some of it good...some not so much.

This piece of advice is worthy of remembering and embellishment. So pick up one of our Right Tool for the Job t-shirts for your favorite DIY , Do It Yourselfer! On sale now, just in time for holiday gift giving, enjoy 15% off--no coupon code required. Exclusively at Keep On Truckin' Apparel an official licensee of R. Crumb.

New T-shirt Design

Presenting----Our Classic Road Trip T-Shirt.

You don't have to own a VW Bus to appreciate this iconic symbol of freedom and the open road.

This amazing image by underground comix icon Robert Crumb was original conceived for the 1985 book cover of Ed McClanahan's "Famous People I Have Known". The book is a seriocomic autobiography in the form of a gallery of portraits...of the great and the small... encountered while wandering the fridges of the academic and literary worlds. McClanahan takes you on a guided tour of the roadhouse of the West and South until he is brought down by a severe case of the honky-tonk blues.

Cheap Thrills Album Cover T-shirts

Cheap Thrills Cover by R. Crumb, 1968

In celebration of the birthdays of both Janis Joplin, and her Big Brother and The Holding Company band mate drummer Dave Getz this week, all of our Cheap Thrills Album Cover t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts for Men and Women are on sale.

This amazing album cover drawn by Robert Crumb in 1968 went on to become one of the Top 100 Albums Covers of all time according to Rolling Stone Magazine. Columbia Records had proposed a different cover which the band was not thrilled with, enter R. Crumb underground cartoonist and fellow Haight- Ashbury counter-culture resident to the rescue. Originally planned for the back cover the band loved it so much they made it the front of the album.

Each cell of the album cover depicts a different song from the album, which is packed with classics like Ball and Chain, Summer Time, Cry Baby, I Need A Man to Love, Piece of my Heart and Combination of the Two. Cheap Thrills is considered some of the finest work of Janis Joplin's all too brief career. Many of these hits are being re-born on the New York stage in the new production "A Night with Janis Joplin".

Enjoy 15% off now through the end of the month, 1-31-14, no coupon code required. Men's short and long sleeve t-shirts, Women's relaxed cotton and fitted tees and our cozy hoodies are all on sale now!
